Telekinetic teenager Eleven is the heart of Netflix's nostalgic '80s-set sci-fi series Stranger Things. But you already knew that. On May 27, 2022, after a three-year break, the first seven episodes of Season 4 — aka Vol. 1 — finally dropped on Netflix. The remaining two episodes (which might as well be two movies) released on July 1 — aka Vol. 2. Article continues below advertisementSeason 4 sees poor Eleven battle bullying from the mouth of a blond high school Barbie doll, the loss of her powers, the wrath of humanoid antagonist Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), and being forcefully reunited with the manipulative Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) — whom she calls Papa. The poor thing has gone through a lot, and actress Millie Bobbie Brown (Enola Holmes) plays her with nuanced style and vigor. And because Millie is now such a huge star — with much help from the Duffer Brothers — she has no problem sharing her controversial opinions about the show that made her a household name. In fact, she criticized one particular element of Stranger Things, not to mention its brotherly creators. Article continues below advertisementSource: NetflixMillie Bobby Brown playfully criticized the 'Stranger Things' death count. No one wants their favorite characters to get the ax in their favorite show — everyone except Millie Bobby Brown. It was initially Noah Schnapp — who's played Will Byers since Season 1 — who suggested that the Duffer Brothers need to "kill off" more characters in Season 5 during a May 2022 interview for The Wrap. Millie then chimed in. “[The cast is] way too big. Last night, we couldn’t even take one group picture because there was like 50 of us. I was like, ‘You need to start killing people off,’” she joked. Article continues below advertisement“The Duffer Brothers are two sensitive Sallies that don’t want to kill anyone off. We need to be Game of Thrones. We need to have the mindset of Game of Thrones," Millie quipped, joking about how GOT was relentless when it came to killing off fan favorite characters. Article continues below advertisementShe even joked that Eleven should be killed off! We will point to the fact that she's saying all of this knowing that it's been confirmed that there's only one more season left. We don't think she'd be so open if there were five more seasons planned out. “They tried killing David [Harbour] off, and they brought him back. It’s ridiculous,” Millie continued. For those who don't know, David Harbour plays the beloved Chief Jim Hopper. And because Millie couldn't help but run her adorable mouth, the Duffer Brothers eventually responded. “We heard,” Matt Duffer said recently on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “What did Millie call us? She said we were ‘sensitive Sallies.’ She’s hilarious. Believe us, we’ve explored all options in the writing room.” He knows her words were all in good continues below advertisement“Just as a complete hypothetical, if you kill Mike [Finn Wolfhard], it’s like … that’s depressing … we aren’t Game of Thrones. This is Hawkins, it’s not Westeros. The show becomes not Stranger Things anymore because you do have to treat it realistically, right?" Matt continued. “This is me basically defending myself against these Millie Bobby Brown accusations and explaining that there are lives behind it, and it’s nothing to do with my sensitivity. So there you go, Millie,” he said. There are LIVES at stake! And, Millie, three major Season 4 characters did die in Vol. 2, so there! The Duffer Brothers aren't that afraid of committing murder. Seasons 1 through 4 of Stranger Things are currently streaming on Netflix.

She's responding to my skepticism of an 18-year-old having a skincare line. With the market inundated with celebrity beauty lines, when a new brand comes on to the scene, one has to wonder, why?Florence by Mills will be three years old this August, and Brown has no intentions of stopping this growing empire. Between acting, running a beauty brand, and being a teenager, she sits down to talk skincare, social media, and Stranger is expanding Florence by Mills with an acne-fighting ‘Clear the Way’ collection consisting of a clarifying face wash and mud mask to help deep cleanse your skin. Like many teenagers with fluctuating hormones, acne is an issue. Attending red carpet events, she’d wonder why she was facing pimples. “I’m definitely a victim of my skin,†Brown admits, reflecting on troublesome acne that inadvertently accompanies her during some of her most prominent (and public) moments. Skincare has been a journey for the British teen. She explains, “I would go to the red carpets and come out wondering, ‘Why did this pimple suddenly appear?’ and ‘Why is my skin not liking this foundation that these people are putting on me?’†Relationship with your skin is personal and a journey in knowing what your skin likes and needs (and what it doesn’t). Brown has learned you can’t hide your skin—“I have wanted to put more makeup to cover it, but you have to embrace it and listen to your skin,†she clarifying face wash contains one of the current buzz words in beauty: niacinamide—to help control oil. It also has salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acids to help minimize pores while smoothing fine lines and texture. The Clarifying Mud Mask focuses on unclogging and minimizing pores with charcoal and salicylic acid to extract all the impurities. The formula includes kaolin clay to exfoliate and lavender and tea tree essential oils to calm the have been looking for a skincare and beauty company that will curate ingredients and products that are fitting for my skin,†states Brown, admitting she’s spent 2022 learning about new skincare trends and understanding her skin, its problems, and how to solve them. It shows in her products as Brown is conscious of making them “clean†and cruelty-free sans ingredients like silicone and SLS/SLES. However, for Brown, it’s just not what’s in the products but also how they make you feel. She has a laissez fare approach to beauty and believes it’s up to each individual to the age of filters, allowing people to tote invisible pores and the smoothest of skins, I probe Brown about how social media affects her. She brushes me off quickly, stating, “I try to stay off social media as much as The call suddenly feels heavy. We don’t directly address the elephant hovering over us, but you can feel it. Brown has faced weird negativity from the Internet that isn’t the same as her co-stars or other actors her age. Whether it’s backlash for texts between her and Drake or criticism for her clothing, one can peruse the headlines and see them littered with an odd cynicism. Which is a strange thing indeed, given she is literally a child. In 2018, she took a public break from social media and, in a Beyoncé-esque fashion, closed off the world to her personal life and vowed that her accounts would only be used to promote her work. 18 is a transitional period for many. I cringe in horror to think her followers could feel free to comment. “I think what people forget [is] that because my job is in the public eye, that doesn’t mean everything needs to be in the public eye. It’s about me going through things personally and wanting to keep it personal,†she reveals, almost slightly irritated as to why she has to explain herself. I agree with her, admitting I haven’t posted in about three months. She relaxes a bit—“Sometimes I need a mental break from it. It’s a very strenuous relationship with social media—sometimes it’s great, sometimes it isn’t. I aim to make it a happy, positive place that people can go to be As she talks about how she wants the Internet to work, it’s obvious she’s creating a space that may not currently exist in her she’s not building her beauty empire or fighting online bullies, she’s focused on her first job—acting. At the time of our conversation, she’s in the car, leaving the set of Damsel, the new Netflix fantasy feature she’s starring in and executive producing. However, with a new season of Stranger Things out for binge-watching, Brown applauds her castmates, whom she has grown up with over the past four seasons. As she dishes about what goes on behind the scenes, she reveals a fun fact: “All of [us] are incredible The Duffer Brothers have announced that Season 5 will come out in 2024 and culminate the Stranger Things series. CelebrityMillie Bobby BrownJoe’s costars represented Stranger Things at the convention after he canceled his appearance at short on July 21, 2022, 3:57 pm Last week, German Comic Con announced that Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn had canceled his scheduled appearance at the convention on Saturday. Rich Polk / Getty Images for MTV In a social media post, they explained to disappointed fans that the British actor was no longer able to attend due to an issue with his passport. However, the shake-up came just four days after a video of Joe breaking down in tears during a Q&A at London Film and Comic Con went viral. The moment came amid mounting reports of Joe being mistreated by staff at the event, with multiple attendees claiming that they witnessed him get “yelled at” by organizers for spending too much time with fans. Roy Rochlin / Getty Images Joe shot to fame almost overnight after he made his debut as Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things in May, so he was in high demand at the convention. Netflix It was reported that Joe’s slot had been oversold by “400 tickets,” and that he desperately tried to make sure that every guest had a good experience despite hostile behavior from the staff. TikTok LFCC did not respond to BuzzFeed News’ request for comment at the time, but on the second day of the convention, fan Kimberley Burrows addressed the reports when she was given the opportunity to speak to Joe during a panel. “I’m sure a lot of us have heard what happened yesterday — whether it’s true or not — about how you were treated,” she said. “I just wanted to say thank you from all of us, we’re really grateful that you’re sharing your time.” Twitter: @sissiquinn Other attendees in the crowd filmed Joe’s reaction as Kimberly spoke, and he was choking back tears as she went on: “Thank you for signing our things. For spending time with us and making our summer.” “However you were treated yesterday,” she continued, “we are so grateful — thank you.” Jacopo Raule / Getty Images As the crowd applauded, Joe appeared to be completely taken aback and wiped tears from his eyes as he began to cry. The videos of the exchange quickly gained traction online, with many viewing it as proof of Joe’s difficult experience at the convention. So when German Comic Con confirmed that he’d no longer be attending the following weekend’s event, people began to speculate that this was actually due to his treatment at LFCC. “A few days ago he had to hand in his passport to the UK authorities for a USA work visa and this one according to the current status, will only be returned ON MONDAY,” GCC wrote last Thursday. “The possibility that he will get his passport back tomorrow before he takes off on his flight is close to zero.” Netflix “There is also no way to get a temporary passport or similar. We really tried everything today and contacted all the authorities and contact points,” they added. “There are no words for the disappointment and frustration on all levels. Joseph is also extremely sad that he has to disappoint us all at such short notice.” Netflix While Joe was unable to make the event, some of his Stranger Things costars were still in attendance, including 18-year-old Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven. Arturo Holmes / WireImage The young British actor even heaped praise on Joe as she took part in a fan Q&A, even though she had no scenes with his character throughout the season. Netflix During the panel, one fan mentioned a viral TikTok sound that was created off the back of one of Eddie’s scenes. In the Netflix series, Eddie shouts for his friend Chrissy to “wake up” after he finds her in a catatonic state. Netflix His lines were edited together to create a song on the social media app, which has been a huge hit with fans. In a clip from the event, Millie was asked about the song, to which she told the crowd: “You’re putting the pressure on me — how does it go?” The audience then began to sing, which clearly took the actor by surprise. “Can I just say how weird that is, like, why is that a thing? Do you know what I mean?” she asked. However, Millie then acknowledged the brilliant way that Joe brought his character to life, saying: “I mean, he did an amazing job and it was very good. I’m sure [the song] was also his idea. He’s very, very good.” While many were touched by Millie’s sweet tribute to her absent costar at the convention, others were distracted by her accent as they questioned why the English star sounded so American. Karwai Tang / WireImage “Is she British?” one person asked. “I swear every interview now she has an American accent 😅😂." “Why does her accent keep switching?” someone else commented. Another person echoed: “Why is she speaking with an American accent? “She literally forgot she was British for a few,” another user added. One more wrote: “She sounds so American.” Millie was born to English parents in Marbella, Spain, but the family moved back to the UK when she was 4 years old. When Millie was 8, they relocated to Orlando. Four years later, she was cast in Stranger Things, where her character has an American accent, and the majority of her costars are also American. Jason Laveris / FilmMagic Some pointed this out in defense of her accent change, flagging that she has actually spent more time in the US than England so it’s unsurprising that the way she speaks is inconsistent. “She’s been in america for some time now???? obviously her british accent is going to fade,” one person wrote. Another agreed: “When u in the US for a while u loss ur accent..especially if u play an american character from child to adult.” Millie is far from the only British star to have this happen, with Harry Styles admitting earlier this year that his northern England accent had picked up an American twang after he spent a lot of time in the US. Cindy Ord / Getty Images for SiriusXM Discussing his accent during an interview with Capital FM, Harry said: “I think it’s a little bit all over the place because I’m from up North and lived in London for 10 years, and spent a lot of time in America and stuff.” Kevin Mazur / Getty Images for Coachella “So I think when I’m with Americans they don’t think I sound American at all, and I think sometimes when I’m with English people they expect me to sound American,” he went on. “I don’t think I do, but maybe I pick up a couple of bits along the way. I try and translate for whoever I’m with.” Jmenternational / JMEnternational for BRIT Awards / Getty Images And it’s fair to assume that Millie can definitely relate. incomingYour weekday morning guide to breaking news, cultural analysis, and everything in between
On October 31st, 2017, actress Millie Bobby Brown appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote the release of Stranger Things Season 2 coinciding with Halloween. Millie rapped a recap of the events that occurred in Stranger Things Season 1 over live instrumentation by The Roots, flipping Cardi B’s 2017 smash hit “Bodak Yellow” near the end of her performance, rapping with a similar cadence and flow about her character’s signature eggo waffles and bloody nose that Cardi uses on her hook. Note that Cardi based her flow and cadence off of Kodak Black’s 2014 hit “No Flockin.”
